 The Malling Action Partnership

Malling Action Partnership, or MAP, is a community-based partnership, launched 3rd April 2006, that has undertaken a Market Towns Initiative ‘health check’ in the market town of West Malling, Kent, England and its hinterland. A health check is just a detailed look at local services and seeing if they provide all the things that people who live in, work in, or visit the town, need and want.

Kent Federation of Amenity Societies

The Kent Federation of Amenity Societies (KFAS) was formed in 1964 and celebrated its 50 Anniversary in May 2014. The society was formed as a networking organisation for civic societies in Kent at a time when many of our towns and villages were under threat from the prevailing attitude to the demolition of historic buildings in Conservations Areas to make way for new modern buildings of inferior or unsuitable design.

Malling Repair Café

So what is a Repair Café?

Repair Café is repairing broken items together, getting advice, encounters and inspiration. Repair Cafés are community events that match people who need stuff fixed with people who like fixing things.

Repair Cafés are completely non-commercial. There are no promises and no guarantees, but if something can be saved, the repairers will give it their best efforts. Repairers are always keen to teach you how to do the repair – or at least have you watch while they do it.

So, what do you do with a broken vacuum cleaner? Or with a bike when the wheel runs out of alinement? Or with a favourite jumper with a hole in it?

Bin it? No way! Repair it!!
